Run for the Hills 5K
Lace up your running shoes and hit the streets of downtown Harlan for the Run for the Hills 5K on Saturday, June 6th, 2026! Hosted by Anchored Fitness, this timed race welcomes runners and walkers of all skill levels for a fun and energetic morning in the mountains. Participants will compete for trophies across multiple age divisions, enjoy the excitement of race day in the heart of Harlan, and experience one of the region’s favorite community fitness events. Registration opens at 7:00 AM with the race beginning at 8:00 AM at the Harlan County Courthouse.

Miss Harlan County Scholarship Pageant
Support local seniors as they vie for the crown, scholarship money, and title of Miss Harlan County! The Miss Harlan County Scholarship Pageant will take place on Tuesday June 2, 2026 at Harlan County High School. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the Pageant begins at 6:00 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children under 3.
15th Annual Sue Ford Memorial Car Show

Get ready to rev your engines and shine up those classics! The 15th Annual Sue Ford Memorial Car Show is rolling into Downtown Harlan during the Poke Sallet Festival on Saturday, June 6th, 2026.
This beloved event is a highlight of festival weekend, showcasing an incredible lineup of classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars, trucks, and more. Whether you’re a car enthusiast, a collector, or just love seeing beautifully restored vehicles, this show is for you!
Proceeds from the car show will benefit the Harlan County Christian School, making this event not only fun but meaningful for our community.

85th Harlan Country Club Inv. Tournament

The 85th Annual Harlan Country Club Invitational Tournament returns Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th, bringing together golfers from across the region for one of Harlan County’s longest standing sporting traditions.
The weekend will feature a Saturday flight qualifier followed by the Invitational Tournament on Sunday, with lunch provided for all participants. Entry fees also include Saturday skins and closest to the pin contests for both days.
Field is limited to the first 90 entries, so be sure to reserve your spot early!

Ready Go Dog Show is coming to Huff Park during the Poke Sallet Festival! And make no bones about it - this is one show you don’t want to miss! Each day of Poke, the dogs will have you barking with laughter and excitement! There will multiple shows each day with 2 on Thursday, 3 on Friday, and 4 on Saturday!
Ready Go Dog Show is an action packed, high energy show that leaves you wanting more! They showcase their energetic rescue pups with high flying frisbee tricks, dogs snagging a frisbee mid air, and the exciting 7 foot high, Big Air Box Jump! In their 25 minute show, audiences will see everything from the popular Belgian Malinois breed, to a 9lb chihuahua mix and everything in between! Crowds have the opportunity to win a souvenir with volunteer participation, or get your own after the show while you meet one of the 4 legged stars!
Owners Bio: John and Nikki of Ready Go Dog Show are bringing entertainment to new heights, LITERALLY, with the biggest, big air dog show on the planet! They are the owners and performers, traveling the country with their talented pack of 15 pups. Their goal is to bring smiles and joy to people of all ages and leave them with memories that will last a lifetime.
